À propos de Corey Hamm
Pianist Corey Hamm has premiered over four hundred solo, chamber, and concerto works, including over eighty with his duo PEP (Piano and Erhu Project). His recording of Rzewski’s The People United Will Never Be Defeated!, which he has performed over eighty times all over the world, won both Spotify’s and WCMA’s award for Best Classical Recording, and garnered Rzewski’s response “Excellent! This may be the best recording!”. His next recording will be 20th Century piano sonatas by Dutilleux, Kapustin, and Prokofiev.
Recent and upcoming performances include the Ligeti Piano Concerto, Dorothy Chang’s Erhu and piano double concerto Gateways with the VSO, both Prokofiev’s third and second Piano Concertos, and Barber’s Piano Concerto, in addition to artist residencies in Winnipeg and Victoria. Corey is Professor of Piano at UBC where he won the prestigious Killam Teaching Award, and Somerset Award for Artistic Excellence. His students have won first prizes at numerous international, and national piano competitions. He also is on the piano Faculty at the Summer Institute for Contemporary Performance Practice (SiCPP).
